RE: Maxxim ST tires

I just put on a set of Maxxis 225/75/15/D rated tires. After the first 300 mile trip I am happy with them. However my next trailer will be getting 16"rims and Micheline XPS Ribs. Now I think the is the best solution if you have the room for the larger wheels & tires., Dan

RE: Anyone using Water4Gas Hydrogen converter?

Later on this summer, one of my projects is to modify my Tow Truck. Mods on the list are larger exhaust valves, headers, custom cold air intake, ect. One of the mods I am concidering is a HHO gas converter. If I go ahead with it I will post my results. Brad Brad I would really like to here if they work in the real world or just a scam Thanks, Dan

Anyone using Water4Gas Hydrogen converter?

I have seen these things advertised to put on gas or diesel engines that's suppose to increase you fuel mileage 50% & more. Anyone built one & using it? Does it really do anything or is it a scam? I would love to hear about it. Thanks Dan.

RE: How low to air down tires to drive on beach?

My son just won a bid on a duce & 1/2 10 wheel drive military truck with large winch on front. He has seen them at our favorite lake in NM going all over the sand & not getting stuck. We plan to put a hitch ball on back to park our travel trailers on the beach & get them back out after the weekend is over. Sounds great, I hope the truck idea works. Anyone own one & use it that way? Thanks Dan

RE: TAIL LIGHTS / CAB LIGHTS

wwwstylintrucks.com & gorecon.com The second one has the clear tail gate light bar that has a backup white lights & the red stop, turn & tail lights. It cost more but is brighter & does more. Dan

Reduce starting amps on Rooftop A/C

Has anyone installed a hard start kit on their rooftop A/c unit to reduce the start amps so you might be able to run 2 a/c's on a 30 amp service. I know some dont even use a start capacitor to start. Using one reduces the amps & gives it a large boost to get it started. Just a thought about the hot summer coming up, Thanks Dan

RE: crossroads cruiser.

I guess I'm the only crossroads cruiser owner that has had major problems & the dealer & crossroads were so hard to get anything done. Let me see it was a 2004, The first problem was the first trip the A/C froze up & wouldn't cool, we were in Arizona & really needed it. My dealer said its getting cool in Alb., NM now we can't test until next summer make appointment then, I had to repair myself & I did. Both axles spindles were welded on wrong from the axle factory, I wore out 5 tires the first year, crossroads says they shipped 5 but dealer said they shipped only 4, I got only 4, I guess the dealer kept 1 of my tires. Crossroads refused to replace the axles so they had dealer take to a frame shop to align, they heated the axles to bend & burnt off the brake wires so I had no brakes. I got dealer to fix that, ruined 4 more tires because still way out of alignment finally crossroads sent 2 new axles & 4 new tires, this took all my first summer of ownership. Then I noticed water tank was falling through belly material. I drained water & called dealer, they said bring it in, another 300 miles round trip, all they did was rebend the 2 galvanized straps (no bolts or clamps were installed) & patched the belly material & said come pick up, another 300 miles. I put away for the winter. Next spring I was going down highway & the water tank fell out & hit the highway. This ruined the belly, water tank, electrical wiring, plumbing & our summer vacation. We spent the next 3 days camping out at my dealers lot as they took no responsibility for their bad repair & blamed on crossroads. Crossroads did send a new water tank & belly materials, I guess the dealer had the plumbing & electrical stuff in stock. We got that repaired finally & proceeded to another state now 3 days of our weeks summer vacation gone. We stopped for lunch & I tried to pump some water it would not pump any water. The dealer did not secure water tank so it would not move & the sloshing water moved the water tank & pinched off the water lines. I had to have that repaired again & new water pump this time by same dealer after we returned from our trip. We had to use water hose hookup to use water in trailer as pump could not pick up any water in full tank. Then on another overnight trip I stopped for the night & no lights in part of camper, checked the fuses 1 blown, replaced kept blowing. I returned to same dealer crossroads run the electrical wiring under the trailer with torch blown holes in frame with no grommets to guard against wires rubbing through the insulation, so they repaired that. The next time I drove in the rain the tail lights blew out because the lights leaked water & burnt out bulbs. I replaced the tail lights with LED water proof ones myself. I was under the trailer checking the water tank as it was pushing on the bottom belly material again & starting to fall out again so I called the dealer again they said I would have to pay for it this time as my 2 year warranty has run out. While I was under their I also found the frame was cracked in 4 places above the axle spring shackles, again I told the dealer about that they called crossroads. Crossroads said they did not built the frame that was bought from Lippert, so I called Lippert they said they were not responsible as they built to crossroads specifications, but the guy from lippert told me how he would fix it if it was him. So I had to repair the frame & water tank, plumbing system, belly & again water pump again all out of my pocket. I don't know why I'm the only person that bought a crossroads that has had any problems. My dealer & Crossroads & Lipperd did nothing after the 2 years were up to help fix my lemon I bought from them. So I got it all fixed all my expense even though I had all the same problems during the warranty period. I will tell someone what I went through if they ask & that's what I'm doing. Its all true, I have all the repair receipts & pictures. Oh ya by the way its now 4 years old & the filon siding the fiberglass is starting to come out & the paint has faded so bad it has cracked, I brought that up to crossroads again they said they didn't make the filon or stripes. So Buyers beware! If you live close to one of those wonderful dealers I have been reading about that will bend over backwards for you & you don't mind it being in the shop all summer getting repaired instead of using it for camping then I would say go ahead. I have spent thousands of dollars just driving back & forth over 300 miles round trip for repairs, I have forgot how many times, then another 300 miles to go back & pickup weeks latter when crossroads got around to authorizing the in warranty repairs & dealer got around to fitting me in their schedule. They never asked to take it back to the factory to repair right, I even asked they to by it back from me or give me a replacement with same upgrades & Crossroads refused. I posted most of all this before as it was happening on this forum, its here if you look up under 2004 crossroads cruiser cracked frame. I was told by other members to sue them but I'm a Christian & I know what the Bible says about taking people to court, its better to be cheated and I feel I have been. So my special ordered with all upgrades we could get 2004 crossroads cruiser is sitting in the back yard rotting away. The next time I dare use it who know what problems I will have with it. Anyone want to by a 1 owner low mileage travel trailer? Its only 4 years old make you a great deal. I didn't think so. Anyway I thought you need to know that 1 trailer they built was a lemon. Maybe all the rest are great, I hope so for all you other owners. Anyway I told my story again good luck & God bless. Dan

RE: crossroads cruiser.

I own a 2004 Crossroads cruiser. We ordered with all the upgrades we could get. Search my posts on this forum under cracked frame 2004 crossroads cruiser TT. You will see all the problems I had with this trailer, my dealer crossroads & Lippert the frame manufacturer. My wife loved the interior but mechanically its junk. If you buy one really check it over good for the first 2 years especially the frame for cracks above the spring shackle weld on points, & axle problems, alignment & abnormal tire wear & get it fixed right away. If it goes 1 day past the 2 years they won't fix anything even though you have had trouble with it from day one. I had the water tank fall out 2 times, had to repair the third time myself. Read my above posts of all the trouble I have had with my crossroads. After owning it & all the research I have done I will buy a Arctic Fox next time even though it cost more, what I've read from other owners they stand up well. Best of luck to you, Dan

RE: Saf-Tee Tire Pressure Monitor System

Doran 360 batteries question. I guess I answered my own question. I called Doran they called me back today. Batteries supposed to last 7 years, Lithium batteries. To replace you have to mail back to Doran & pay 29.95 each wheel unit if you still have your receipt, if not then its 49,95 each. I also asked where the unit is built, ya you guessed it China. So I guess I'm going to buy a China build tire pressure monitor to monitor my China built tires, Makes since to me. All I have read so far looks like a good system, I will probably by one, Dan

RE: Replace Tires or Pressure Pro

I hate to tell you but your new Goodyear Marathon tires are also made in China. Look on the sidewall its printed right on the tire. I thought the same thing. I bought one thinking it was American made, but its not. Dedman tires are supposed to be American made St tires but I checked into them also for a 15 " TT and they are built in Mexico. So I don't know where we are supposed to buy a good reliable American made St tire. If you have 16" tires then you have it made you can put a E rated truck tire & it will stand up great like a Michelin. Good luck, this has really been a problem , the ST 15 tires don't stand up. I myself am going to have to buy a tire pressure monitor system maybe a Doran 360? & keep a eye on the tire pressures. Hopefully we can save a slow leak tire before it flies apart & tears up my TT. RE: Saf-Tee Tire Pressure Monitor System

OK what about the Doran 360. Can the end user change the batteries or do they have to send back to factory and charge allot to replace? Thanks Dan

Saf-Tee Tire Pressure Monitor System

Anyone bought the Saf-Tee tire monitoring system & do you like it? Also the new Doran 360 system can you change the batteries yourself or do you have to send back & pay $50.00 each to change the batteries. Thanks in advance for your response. Dan

RE: My tire pressure at higher altitude

I used to sell tires at high altitude. My town is at 6500 feet. Altitude makes no difference on tire pressure at all. It is the temperature of the tire that changes tire pressures. If your tires are in the sun on one side & shade on the other you will see as much as 10 PSI higher reading in the sun. A tire is a sealed vessel it makes no difference the altitude. Tire loading (weight) & temperature makes the difference. If you fill up in the AM and its 30 degrees & drive to a place that's 50 degrees and let the tires cool it will be higher because the tires are 50 degrees not the 30 that you filled it up at. That's why it says on side of tire not to let air out when tire is hot because they will be under inflated when it gets cold. Cold is were you fill the tires & check them again cold. I was a Goodyear tire store manager for a couple of years. Hope this helps, Dan

RE: Explain Hensley Bump?

Thankyou for your reply's. I see one of you were from South Dakota, I lived there when I was young, Sioux Falls to be exact, but now out west in New Mexico. I really want the Hensley, but should look at the new pro pride but don't know if I should buy a not proven yet hitch or not. I made that mistake when I bought my Crossroads Cruiser, I bought the 1st year they manufactured my model. What a mistake that was but luckily I'm a good welder & mechanic. Thanks Dan

Explain Hensley Bump?

I was getting ready to buy a new Hensley Arrow hitch this month while they are still on sale but now I read that a hensley bump made a RVer almost loose control of his travel trailer how is that possible? Also I herd on another forum that their will be a new hensley type of hitch on market next month for 1,000 less then the hensley arrow & its being built by the old VP of Hensley that went out on his own. I would like input on the bump from HA owners only please, others could not know if they don't own one. Thanks Dan

RE: Hensley Arrow Hitch Question for owners only

Thanks one & all for the info I understand how to do it now. I'm really thinking about ordering one. I guess they really do all that they say they do. I hope so for the price but I figure it will last as long as I'm ever going to pull a travel trailer. Thanks Dan

RE: Towing with our 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD (turbodiesel)

Looking at the front of this TT it is low also. It should be level. The TV looks level but the TT should be level also to keep the handling & weight on trailer axles & tires equal. Too much weight on one tire or front axle could cause tire failure. This is my opinion. Hope it helps. Dan

Hensley Arrow Hitch Question for owners only

If you have to disconnect the 2" shaft from the front of the hitch when you unhitch how do you know how high to lift the travel trailer? Not high enough you would still have weight on the back of the truck & hitch would jump when you pulled out of hitch, too high & hitch & front of trailer would drop. Its different then a ball you know when a ball drops out how high to go so I'm a little confused on how to do it properly with the arrow hitch? Thanks for your reply, Dan
